This Privacy Policy explains how the Ezani app and the Azan: Muslim Prayer Times app (together “the apps”, or “we” and “our”) handle your information. Both are Islamic prayer-times apps from the same developer, for iPhone, iPad and Android. They work without user accounts or a backend server: the preferences you set are stored only on your device. This policy describes exactly what the apps do and nothing more.
Advertising
The free versions of the apps show banner and interstitial ads through Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, AdMob may collect device information, your IP address and advertising identifiers, and may use them for personalised advertising. In the EU, EEA, UK and other regions where it is required, the apps display Google’s UMP consent form so you can choose whether your data is used for personalised ads. On iOS, the advertising identifier is only available to ads if you allow tracking when asked. Subscribers see no ads.
Subscriptions & Purchases
You can optionally subscribe to remove ads. Purchases are handled entirely through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google). All payments are processed by Apple or Google — we never see or store your card or payment details. The apps only receive whether an ad-free subscription is currently active, and this is kept on your device. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings or in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions.
Information Stored on Your Device
The apps store your preferences only on your device (using on-device storage, MMKV): your selected country and city, chosen language, notification preferences, your prayer tracker and bookmarks, and whether ads have been removed. Home-screen widgets read this information from your device. There are no user accounts, no server and no backend database. This information never leaves your device and is not sent to us or anyone else.
Location, Travel Detection & Qibla
If you allow location access, the apps use your device’s location only while you are using them: to suggest switching to a nearby city when you travel, and in Ezani to point the Qibla compass together with the magnetometer/compass sensors (Azan’s Qibla compass uses the coordinates of your chosen city instead). Your position is processed entirely on your device — it is not transmitted to us, not stored, and never used in the background. You can withdraw location access at any time in your device settings and choose your city by hand.
Approximate Location from Your IP Address
The first time you open an app, and when your device’s location is not available for travel detection, the app makes a request to the service ipinfo.io to estimate your country and approximate area from your IP address, only in order to preselect a suitable city and language or to suggest a nearby city. Your IP address is processed by ipinfo.io for this purpose. The apps do not build a profile from this and do not store your IP address.
Quran Audio
When you play a Quran recitation, the audio is streamed from the Islamic Network content delivery network (cdn.islamic.network). As with any download, that server receives your IP address and the files requested.
Notifications
Prayer-time notifications are scheduled locally on your device. No push-notification server is involved, and no data is sent off your device to deliver them.
Children
The apps are not directed at children and do not knowingly collect any personal data from them.
Your Rights & Choices
Because all of your data is stored locally on your device, you remain in control of it. Uninstalling an app removes its data from your device. You can change your choices about personalised advertising at any time through your device settings or the consent form shown in the app. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, data-protection law such as the GDPR gives you rights including access to and deletion of your personal data; since we hold no data on any server, these are satisfied directly on your device.
