قَدَرُ اللَّهِ وَمَا شَاءَ فَعَلَ
Transliteration
Qadarullahi wa ma sha'a fa'al
Translation
It is the decree of Allah and what He wills, He does. (Do not say: If only I had done such and such, for indeed 'if' opens the door to the work of Satan)
Upon Being Struck by Calamity
إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ ، اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْراً مِنْهَا
Transliteration
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un, Allahumma'-jurni fi musibati wakhluf li khayran minha
Translation
Verily we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. O Allah, reward me in my affliction and replace it for me with something better. (Whoever says this when afflicted, Allah will reward him in his affliction and replace it with something better)
